Job Summary
Under the direction of a registered/licensed nurse (RN), the candidate is a member of the interdisciplinary health care team and assists in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment.
Essential Functions- Perform patient‑care related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including performing and documenting point‑of‑care vital signs, EKGs, bathing, and other sanitary needs, transferring and assisting with ambulation, feeding patients, and assisting RNs and physicians with exams and treatments.
- Ensure that patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs and patient volumes change.
- Perform specimen collection and document all relevant information.
- Retrieve equipment from other areas, set up equipment, clean equipment between patient use, and report malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy.
- Document patient information such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results.
- Assist patients with food tray setup and eating when necessary.
- Communicate with nursing staff effectively and timely regarding patient care and condition.
- Receive and direct medical staff, personnel, patients, and visitors.
- Education
:
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Experience in lieu of a degree is not accepted. - Licenses and Credentials
:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred;
Data Conversion – Various Issuers preferred;
Nursing Assistant (LNA – New Hampshire) – New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred. - Experience
: 1–2 years of healthcare experience required. - Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
:- Ability to multitask and handle stress and crisis situations effectively.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
- Demonstrated typing skills and computer experience.
- Good interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift and transport patients using safe techniques in accordance with Safe Patient Handling Guidelines.
