Role:
Campaign Organizer

Location and Timeline:
We are hiring a campaign organizer for this position beginning first of the year and continuing through November, 2026. Organizers must be based in or around North Shore, Massachusetts such as Salem, Beverly, Ipswich, Gloucester, or Newburyport.

Who We Are:

The Outreach Team is the national engine of campaigners and organizers powering the young-people vote movement. With an on-the-ground presence in communities all across the country, our world-class team runs successful civic engagement campaigns to build a future that’s fairer, healthier, safer, and more peaceful for everyone. We are excited to be working with the Coalition for Healthy Democracy on a campaign to engage members of the community to advocate for a stronger democracy.

General Overview:

Organizers will be charged with recruiting, training, and working with a team of volunteers in their local communities to drive action for electoral reform. Across the country our political system is worse than ever. And Massachusetts is no longer the exception: we have the least competitive elections and the least transparent legislature in the country. This system keeps power in the hands of a few rather than the many.

Campaign Organizers will engage constituents around democracy reform and action opportunities in their communities. The Organizer will receive a fresh list of volunteer leads daily who they will work to engage on actions that build support for two ballot initiatives that would make government more transparent and create an open primary in the state. Organizers will also work to engage VIPs, stakeholders and community advocacy groups to endorse and support the statewide initiatives.

What You’ll Do:

  • Recruit and Train a Community of Volunteer Activists
    • Call and text supporters and recruit them into grassroots actions.
    • Identify new volunteers from signers who support the issue.
    • Run grassroots skills training to develop effective campaigners among volunteers.
    • Keep meticulous track of a volunteer list so that no potential volunteer falls through the cracks.
    • Represent the campaign through participation in community spaces and events, while engaging and uplifting coalition and partner organizations.
  • Generate Campaign Actions
    • Engage volunteers to collect signatures in support of the initiatives
    • Generate hundreds of additional actions with a particular focus on social media posts, phone calls, postcards, and photo petitions to show support for the initiative.
    • Recruit and train volunteers to generate more petitions and volunteer engagement at events.
    • Recruit and engage with grasstop VIPs to publicly support the initatives
  • Organize Events
    • Organize and execute in-person events demonstrating support for transparency and electoral reform
    • Educate the community about the broken electoral system in Massachusetts
    • Nail 100% of all messaging and legal requirements and ensure that volunteers do the same.
  • Manage Digital Campaign, Data Management, and Reporting Tools
    • Demonstrate public support by recruiting volunteers to post on their own social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
    • Use peer-to-peer texting services and relational organizing tools to communicate with community members.
    • Send timely and compelling email campaigns to recruit activists to campaign activities.
    • Track every interaction with detailed notes in order to report numbers daily and write weekly reports on the results of the campaign.
