** Job Summary
** The Director of Business Development is responsible for leading the overall growth strategy for the Nordson MEDICAL Interventional Solutions business. Working closely with the commercial team and functional leaders while building a strong network with key customers and industry leaders, the Director will develop a deep understanding of external market trends, competition, and best opportunities for the division to pursue.

Leveraging this market understanding, the Director will develop strategic initiatives that deliver above market organic growth rates for the division.

This position will take a lead role in the development of strategic and operating plans, ensuring the business develops and executes an effective strategy for growth. Through the leadership of market analysis and development, product management, and competitor analysis the Director will identify new applications and markets in strategic growth segments and develop plans to deliver above market growth to the business.

Critical to the role, this leader is responsible for developing and empowering the product and market management teams, retaining, and developing diverse talent and maintaining an innovative, inclusive, and collaborative culture. The Director of Business Development will also collaborate with the marketing communications team on setting global marketing communication priorities, establishing stretch goals, overseeing development and execution of action plans, deploying resources optimally to drive results, and supporting new efforts focused on creating effective go-to-market strategies and plans.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
*** Utilizes the Nordson Ascend Strategy and business system, NBS Next, to ensure the division focuses on the most attractive growth opportunities to drive organic above market growth.
* Drives ongoing competitive analysis at the division level and develops strategies to take share in the most attractive markets and therapies.
* Leads the development of the strategic planning process, including the analysis and prioritization of potential initiatives for growth, marketing strategy, and development of presentations to communicate plan to Corporate Leadership.
* Directly and indirectly through team, develop relationships with key customers and industry leading professionals to ensure business strategies and customer partnerships are aligned.
* Develops deep relationships with key customers to foster voice of customer activities to understand the customer’s needs and direction in the market.
* Works closely with the product innovation team to develop and establish business justification and priorities for product and capability expansion supporting strategic initiatives. Creates and ensures that standard financial criteria are utilized to justify and prioritize the development pipeline.
* Sets clear criteria for programs being added to the development portfolio while being judicious about terminating programs not meeting defined success criteria.
* Performs regular reviews of portfolio status/health and makes corrections as needed to achieve growth.
* Creates, maintains, and executes long term product and capability roadmaps that ensure sustained profitable growth through differentiation and value generating capabilities.
