TAX PREPARER/BOOKKEEPER FOR CPA FIRM

We are a CPA firm located in Salem since 1990 and well established in the area. The person hired will have a great opportunity to work for and with a CPA with 40+ years of experience. Our firm has good benefits and a comfortable office setting. We work in the office, not remotely.

• 1. Prepare federal and state returns using Pro System fx tax software.
• 2. Knowledge of federal and state tax laws.
• 3. Ability to learn new tax laws and research tax issues.
• 4. Assist with tax return processing if needed.
• 5. Must project a friendly and professional manner with clients and co-workers.

• 1. Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
• 2. Processing payroll for our clients, including quarterly and year-end payroll reports.
• 3. Perform bookkeeping for selected clients
  • a) Firm understanding of debits, credits, balance sheets and income statements.
  • b) Firm understanding of bank reconciliations.
  • c) Must be proficient with accounting software system(s). (We use Sage/Peachtree and Quick Books accounting software.)
• 4. Organizational skills, able to work and think independently.
• 5. Ability to take the initiative and manage time to get work done accurately and timely.
• 6. Willing to be supervised and to communicate regularly with supervisor.
• 7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• 8. Ability to prepare 1099s annually.

Compensation: Hourly position and pay will depend on experience and knowledge.
