The Construction Engineering Services Practice is seeking a full‑time or part‑time Construction Inspector in Portland and Salem, OR.

In this position you will provide on‑site construction inspection and applicable documentation for transportation projects. This includes observation of construction work activities for compliance with plans and specifications, preparation of required contract documentation, and following prescribed Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures consistent with State and Local guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, perform, and supervise technical engineering work in the field or office.
  • Inspect, observe, and ensure a construction project is constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of the work (labor, equipment, materials, quantities).
  • Identify contract changes and assist in preparation of change orders.
  • Communicate effectively with the contractors, owners, construction manager, project documentation engineer, or other field engineering staff.
  • Prepare field note records for progress payments.
  • Coordinate required materials sampling and testing.
Required Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of construction inspection experience working on large roadway, bridge, and highway projects.
  • Basic computer skills in Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively with client representatives, contractors, the public, as well as peers and subordinates.
  • Excellent independent working skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and track construction issues through to completion.
  • Clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • General contracting experience.
  • ODOT project experience.
  • ODOT Inspector Certifications.
  • Experience inspecting federally funded projects.
  • Construction material sampling experience.
