Willamette Valley Oral Surgery is seeking a skilled and passionate Part‑time Surgical Assistant to join our well‑established team. This position is part‑time with the possibility of transitioning to full‑time based on performance and organizational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare all equipment, instruments, and materials for use prior to patient arrival.
  • Turn on all dental equipment.
  • Escort each patient to the operatory in a timely manner.
  • Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after treatment.
  • Remain in the operatory and interact with the patient until the doctor arrives.
  • Take X‑rays as needed or instructed after reviewing case notes or dental referral.
  • Confirm with patients medical history and make any necessary changes.
  • Educate patients on the treatment being performed.
  • Assist the doctor with all dental treatments and/or procedures performed.
  • Accurately chart data in the patient’s record, including clinical notations, irregularities, treatment details, updates of medical history, additional doctor’s comments, and patient responses.
  • Provide patients with post‑procedure oral care instructions. Work with the Dental Treatment Coordinator to ensure patients are scheduled for appropriate treatment and accurate appointment length.
  • Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments properly: remove all organic and inorganic materials before the sterilization process.
  • Stock all operatories and designated sterilization areas.
  • Notify the Lead Dental Assistant when materials are running low and need replacement or restocking.
  • Assist in daily and monthly maintenance of sterilization equipment, hand pieces, hand‑piece motors, suction, traps, and X‑ray/sensor units.
  • Navigate software independently.
  • Aid the Lead RDA in training new Sterilization Techs, RDAs, and Doctors.
  • Always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to assigned work schedules and office policies.
  • Remain flexible with work requirements.
  • Attend continuing education courses as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Maintain certification and/or license renewals as required by the state.
  • Exhibit forward‑thinking to anticipate the needs of the patient and our dental team.
  • May be required to travel between office locations; must be insurable by the company’s insurance.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned by management.
  • Be CPR certified.
