About the RoleAs a Correctional Officer, you will set limits, provide positive role models, and facilitate positive change for adults in custody. You will work in a team to maintain order, enforce rules, conduct cell searches, monitor activities, and report safety hazards.
Responsibilities- Maintain order and enforce process within the facility.
- Conduct cell searches, enforce discipline, and resolve disputes.
- Observe, inspect, and report safety, sanitation, and fire hazards.
- Complete reporting and documentation as required.
- Participate in training and a Field Training Evaluation Program during probation.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 21 years of age or older.
- United States citizenship.
- Meet Department of Public Safety and Standards Training physical standards.
- Able to read, write, and write clear reports.
- Successful completion of a DOC background investigation.
- Score ≥ 70% on the NTN REACT test.
- Good employee work history.
- Proficient in computer use.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Clearance for prohibited drugs and substance testing.
- Pass psychological evaluation as required by HB 2936.
- Teamwork and leadership in high‑stress situations.
- Strong communication and integrity.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Low risk ratings for professional conduct.
