A cardiac tech at Salem Health plays a key role in delivering safe, high-quality cardiovascular diagnostic care by preparing patients for procedures, performing and analyzing ECGs and long-term cardiac monitoring and responding appropriately to clinical changes. They collaborate closely with the care team to prioritize patient needs, maintain equipment, ensure accurate documentation and billing, and uphold all current standards, policies, and privacy requirements.
The role also supports departmental growth through training, orientation, and participation in projects and committees.
- Perform high-quality cardiac diagnostic procedures, including 12-lead ECGs and long-term monitoring, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis and timely reporting of critical values.
- Prepare and support patients throughout non-invasive cardiovascular procedures while maintaining safety, privacy and clear communication with patients and families.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to adverse reactions or emergent situations, following established clinical protocols and standards.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and clean equipment, ensuring all emergency and diagnostic devices are functional and properly utilized.
- Document procedures, billing, and patient information accurately and in accordance with Salem Health policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to prioritize patient care and contribute to department initiatives, including staff training, orientation and process improvement.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- One year recent experience as a cardiac technician in a cardiovascular non-invasive services department or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Proficiency in electrocardiogram analysis preferred.
- Proficiency in completing 12 lead electrocardiograms, Holter and event monitoring preferred.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular non-invasive procedures preferred.
