Your role with usA cardiac sonographer at Salem Health performs advanced echo cardiographic imaging including transthoracic, stress, and transesophageal studies to provide accurate diagnostic information while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy. They assess and prepare patients, adjust imaging techniques based on anatomy and pathology, monitor responses, and promptly report critical findings. The role also supports team coordination, equipment maintenance, documentation, and departmental development through training, collaboration, and participation in ongoing projects.
Whatyou'll do
- Perform high-quality echo cardiographic procedures including TTE, stress echo, and TEE by acquiring accurate images, adjusting techniques in real time, and preparing comprehensive reports for physician interpretation.
- Assess, prepare, and monitor patients throughout procedures while ensuring safety, comfort, privacy, and clear communication.
- Recognize and respond to adverse reactions or emergent clinical situations, following established protocols and reporting critical values promptly.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and clean ultrasound and emergency equipment, ensuring proper function and readiness.
- Document all procedures, measurements, and billing accurately in accordance with Salem Health standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to departmental development through training, orientation, and participation in improvement projects and committees.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must have one or both Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Imaging (CCI) certifications.
- Practice of Sonography (OBMI) certification.
- Graduate from an accredited school of noninvasive cardiovascular technology/ultrasound or have three years of recent experience and at least 800 echocardiograms performed, or a student may begin working with a temporary state of Oregon Sonography license as early as five months prior to the projected date for completion of coursework.
- Recent experience as a cardiac sonographer in a hospital-based, cardiac noninvasive services department preferred.
