Mission of the District Attorney's OfficeThe mission of the District Attorney's Office is to seek justice through:
- Promoting accountability for criminal offenders.
- Interpreting, enforcing and executing law.
- Responding to the concerns of victims and the public; and
- Working cooperatively with members of the justice system.
Independently performs legal support activities of a complex clerical nature, which require specialized training and skills.
Supervision ReceivedWorks under the supervision of a Legal Assistant Supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews results obtained for compliance with department policies, procedures and goals.

Typical DutiesThis position provides services to monolingual Spanish‑speaking clients; therefore, fluent bilingual Spanish/English skills are required.
- Supplemental secretarial training is preferred.
- Fluent bilingual Spanish/English skills are required. An additional 5% will be added to the hourly wage as compensation for this skill. Finalist will be required to pass a verbal and written standardized Spanish/English fluency assessment as part of the hiring process.
- A criminal history background check, including fingerprinting, is required; conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this position.
- Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) certification.
- Safe‑sensitive/special‑needs position. Final candidates will be required to pass a pre‑employment drug screen, including testing for marijuana. The Marion County drug and alcohol use and testing policy can be found at

- This is a full‑time position, which is eligible for overtime.
- This position is represented by a union.
- Work schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with flexibility depending upon the needs of the department.
Considerable knowledge of accepted modern office practices, procedures and techniques;
English composition, spelling, and grammar; arithmetic; concepts of prioritizing/organizing work; modern office equipment and machinery and their intended use; a variety of computer systems and software.
