Job Duties
The Packer is responsible for working in an area producing product that is packed into trays/cartons for shipping. This includes preparing cartons, manually packing and palletizing product, and completing a final quality inspection of finished goods.
- Prepare cardboard cartons/trays for product packing by folding, taping, sorting, and labeling; secure carton ends together and place cartons/trays on the work area. Check that tape guns have sufficient tape.
- Perform visual inspections of final product packaging for integrity, including bag registration, code dates, prices, bag and case seals. Remove out‑of‑specification product and communicate packaging problems.
- Fill cartons/displays based on packaging specifications, ensuring products are packaged in cases with appropriate labels; tape and seal cartons as needed.
- Stack correct number of cartons/trays on pallets/skids using proper stacking pattern; use pallet jack when moving finished goods weighing up to 300 lb.
- Clear loose product from turntable/area; discard defective bags, boxes, trays; sweep loose product off the floor.
- Assist with product rework according to plant expectations.
- Practice and adhere to safety and hygiene guidelines and procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection.
- Maintain a clean work area, following 5S protocols.
- Store packaging room supplies in designated areas.
- Keep work area aisles/exits clear and free from obstructions.
- Remove trash from work area floor; keep turntables/area clean; follow safe lifting and carrying instructions.
- Perform sanitation tasks as directed, including equipment washes, seasoner cleanings, and wipeouts.
- Prepare line for startup and assist with any equipment changeovers when applicable.
- Operate tray‑making and/or stapling machines as required.
- Report any issues to Machine Operators, Group Leader, or Supervisor as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Mandatory overtime may be required.
High School Diploma or GED and/or one year of production experience in a manufacturing environment.

Compensation & BenefitsIndividual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
