Family Outreach Coordinator Bilingual Spanish/English - Polk County

Family Building Blocks is accepting applications for a full-time Bilingual Spanish/English Family Outreach Coordinator. The Family Outreach Coordinator works to engage and recruit families in Polk and/or Marion counties by providing support to parents as they are waiting to access our services, parenting education, hosting/participating in community events, and playgroups. Developing and maintaining strong collaborations with community partner organizations will be a crucial function of this position.

The Family Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Attending and engaging families directly at community events and health fairs in various locations.
  • Setting up and taking down of recruitment events which includes giveaways, table, chairs and canopies.
  • Developing, advertising, and engaging families through parent-child playgroups and parenting classes
  • Developing and maintaining key partnerships with organizations and churches that can offer space for parent-child playgroups parenting classes at various locations through-out County.
  • Working with FBB Development department to develop marketing materials; securing supplies for playgroups, community meeting and events.
  • Working closely with Enrollment Specialist to coordinate for recruitment.
  • Functioning as a liaison between early learning community partners using the universal referral process by developing and maintaining developed by early learning partners.
  • Identifying and implementing creative ways to locate, connect, and engage with families.
  • Tracking all recruitment activities and events.

Additionally, the Family Outreach Coordinator will:

  • Deliver respectful and immediate support to families in crisis using a strengths-based approach.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact and service navigator for families, to learn about their needs and connect them to the program that will best fit their needs and interest.
  • Provide ongoing phone calls and case management to families who are interested but waiting for services; carry small caseload at times.
  • Maintain regular contact with families until they are connected with an agency for ongoing support.

The Family Outreach Coordinator will also be responsible for facilitating parenting education, including:

  • Hosting and facilitating two or more parent education classes, using the research-based curricula such as Circle of Security, Nurturing Parenting, Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors, Strengthen Families, or Make a Parenting a Pleasure.
  • Regular communication with parents participating in classes.
  • Recruiting and marketing parenting classes to community partners and parents.
  • Tracking numbers, attendance, retention rates, complete parenting skill ladders after every class.

Other related duties include:

  • Providing back up to other parent education classes, Parent Leadership and EHS Policy Council, as needed.
  • Attending in-service training to improve skills, and knowledge of related project
  • Attending and Participating in relevant meetings including but not limited to site meetings, Intake and Screening Team, community outreach team and All Staff.
  • Building, developing, and strengthening community partnerships.
  • Participating in agency-wide projects and initiatives as needed
