- Hold daily sick‑call and as‑needed evaluations.
- Initiate appropriate treatment according to current medical and nursing care plans.
- Evaluate youth returning from unauthorized absences and parole violations according to standard procedures.
- Provide emergency and first‑aid evaluations and treatment, sustaining vital functions and referring patients to the appropriate emergency provider.
- Assist medical, dental, psychiatric, and psychological providers with examination and reports.
- Perform destruction of unused or outdated medication.
- Carry out discharge‑planning functions, ensuring continuity of care and patient education regarding health conditions and medication.
- Carry out physician/dentist/nurse practitioner orders, ensuring appropriateness by observation and feedback from staff members, youth, and youth families; evaluate effectiveness of care and adjust as needed.
- Collect laboratory specimens and samples for testing and analysis.
- Maintain accurate, legible, complete records of patient care in the electronic medical record (HER), documenting objective data, treatment provided, evaluation of effectiveness, patient education, and nursing care plans.
- Enter essential youth‑related health information into the Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS).
- Valid Oregon Registered Professional Nurse’s License at the time of appointment.
- Active CPR card.
- Experience working with an Electronic Health Record System.
- Knowledge of medical ethics.
- Experience working in a team environment in a variety of settings.
- Ability to prioritize and complete work assignments with specified deadlines.
Benefits are prorated according to hours worked. The comprehensive benefits package includes low‑cost high‑coverage medical plans, vision, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, employee assistance programs, 11 paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, and 3 annual personal leave days. Employees receive annual increases on the anniversary date until the maximum of the salary range is reached. Upon PERS eligibility, employees receive a 6.95% increase to their base salary and a 6% contribution to PERS.
