Base salary: $3,705 - $5,066 per month. Position type:
Employee. Full‑time permanent position, Monday-Friday 7 AM to 4 PM.

Wilsonville, Oregon.
Do you have prior laboratory experience and a science background? Are you a detail‑oriented, self‑directed problem solver? Join our Laboratory Services team at the Oregon Department of Agriculture.
What You’ll Be Doing- Prepare various microbiological media (broths, tubes, plates) used for identifying and quantifying bacteria.
- Make chemical reagents for media preparation.
- Maintain complete and accurate records.
- Operate autoclaves, pH meters, dispensing units, balances, and glassware washers.
- Perform quality control of supplies as needed.
- Serve as back‑up analyst for microbiology sections (food, dairy, water, etc.).
- Two years of experience performing routine, standardized analytical tests and lab procedures under written instructions, plus high‑school courses in chemistry, biology, or mathematics.
- Equivalent combination of training and experience.
- An Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science may substitute for one year of the required experience.
- Ability to perform some walking and heavy lifting up to 30 lb.
- Laboratory experience beyond academic settings.
- Proficiency in preparing and recording microbiological media and reagents.
- Experience with analytical tools (pipettes, balances, volumetric glassware, etc.).
- Accurate record‑keeping.
- Experience in an ISO 17025‑accredited laboratory.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Reliable, detail‑oriented, consistent work output.
- Effective communication with co‑workers.
