Shortage Control Lead – Full-Time

Location: Salem, OR
Base Pay: $16.05 per hour

Join Burlington as a Shortage Control Lead, responsible for mitigating theft and fraud in high shortage areas, maintaining a safe store environment, and engaging with customers and associates in a respectful, energetic manner.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a deterrent through a command presence, dressing in company‑issued vest and earpiece, and greeting associates and customers with a positive demeanor.
  • Maintain a safe and secure store with strong attention to detail, multi‑tasking, and communication while partnering with store leadership.
  • Engage proactively with customers and associates in high‑risk areas, promoting exceptional customer service and a strong impression of control.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of top shortage areas and support programs designed to reduce theft.
  • Gather and document indicators of external theft, share with store & field leaders, and support evidence gathering for large scale or organized retail crime.
  • Assist store manager by providing internal controls and operational oversight: conducting associate package/bag checks, monitoring POS transactions, performing store audits, and promoting Asset Protection programs.
  • Provide onboarding and ongoing training support for associates in shortage reduction programs.
  • Assist store leadership in preparing and executing semi‑annual inventory and developing action plans to reduce shortage.
  • Model safety‑first behaviors and manage stressful situations with discipline.
