Day Support Worker

The Steve Dent Day Services Program has been developed to support persons experience disability and isolation to attain and maintain self-selected, valued community roles which reflect their interests, talents, preferences, gifts, and allow them the full decision-making ability in their life, connections, and expressions.

Job duties include:

• Assist in creating a monthly activity calendar that is both informative and creative for all needs.
• Flexible in their willingness to work with their supervisor to devise supportive and fun activities.
• Be informed and know all the individual needs on a person-centered basis.
• Be welcoming all individuals on arrival informing them of activities and encouraging them to participate.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment and submits a list of needed items to the program coordinator.
• Good verbal and written skills, including the ability to give directions in a patient and pleasant manner.
• Model positive communication and behavior while working directly with clients.
• Provide verbal and written reports and/or electronic documentation of the outcomes of supervised activities with individuals in a timely manner.
• Become familiar with the Salem-Keizer Transit system, downtown Salem, and Keizer areas
• Demonstrate and model the ability to communicate clearly and calmly with clients in behaviorally challenging situations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Successful clearance of local and or state background checks.
• Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• 2-3 years of experience working with people with cognitive processing skills.
• Any combination of allied health, psychology, medical or pre-nursing coursework
