Requirements

Entry Requirements

• Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction, or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification. Certification in areas of expertise.
• YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire.
• At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes is preferred.

Physical/Mental Requirements

• Ability to conduct classes and activities.
• Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.

Essential Functions

• Must be reliable, prompt, and practice excellent attendance.
• Adhere to check-in and check-out policies.
• Lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
• Answer questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintain working knowledge of wellness trends to provide effective information and support to members.
• Build effective, authentic relationships with members; help members connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Keep accurate class attendance records.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations.
