Roanoke College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Engineering in the School of Health, Science, and Sustainability, starting in August 2027. Our interdisciplinary engineering program offers a highly collaborative educational experience that emphasizes breadth, integration across disciplines, and strong industry engagement (https://www.roanoke.edu/majors/engineering). We seek a candidate with energetic vision, creative thought, and collaborative spirit.

A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely-related field is required. A successful candidate must have a strong interest in teaching a wide range of undergraduate science and engineering-related courses in a liberal arts setting, in mentoring a variety of experiential learning opportunities, and in supporting efforts towards ABET accreditation. Evidence of potential for highly effective classroom teaching is required. The likely teaching load includes courses in Circuits & Electronics, Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineering, General Education, and Introductory Physics Laboratory, with potential to develop new courses.

This position is part of a cluster of tenure-track hires within the School of Health, Science, and Sustainability, including Engineering, Environmental Studies, Health and Exercise Science, Psychology, and Neuroscience. Consistent with Roanoke College's commitment to transdisciplinary education, this hire is envisioned as contributing to an interconnected academic ecosystem rather than a single program. Faculty hired through this initiative will be expected to intentionally cultivate meaningful collaborations across disciplines through their teaching, scholarship, and service.
