Designer/Drafter

Duration: 10/17/2016 to 04/16/2017

Rate: $22.87/hr

This is an entry-level position. A two-year associate’s degree in any technical field is preferred, with a focus on electrical or mechanical engineering.

The position requires skills in:

• SAP
• PLM
• Microsoft Excel (most used program)
• AutoCAD 2D

As a Designer/Drafter I, you will provide mechanical or electromechanical designs for new or existing products within a business segment. Responsibilities include working independently or with engineers, performing calculations, following specifications, and assisting with prototype testing and redesigns. You will produce drawings, layouts, and diagrams from sketches, existing drawings, or verbal instructions, using CAD software. The role involves establishing design standards, verifying drawings, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with other teams and vendors.

You will also contribute to reducing product costs and designing equipment or fixtures for new product development or installed base products.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate’s Degree in Electronics or a technical degree from a recognized CAD training facility, or at least 2 years of design/drafting experience with a high school diploma/equivalent
• Ability to design conceptual models using CAD software and perform design analysis
• Proficiency in transmitting drawings electronically
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and CAD software
• Experience in gathering and defining customer requirements
• At least one year of experience in project planning and working with engineering teams
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Initiative in design review meetings
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts and ensure accurate calculations
• Good verbal and written communication skills for technical discussions and documentation
• Ability to communicate in the local language
• Experience working with cross-functional teams
• Ability to meet targets for reliability, performance, cost, serviceability, and delivery
• Willingness to interact with vendors and customers on engineering design issues if needed
