The position offers a sign‑on bonus of up to $15,000.

Location:

Salem, VA.

Full‑time weekends only position. Serve as a professional member of the operating room (OR) team, assisting the surgical team, maintaining sterile field, and supporting patient care.

• Utilizes principles of aseptic technique to create and maintain a sterile field.
• Plans and provides equipment and supplies based on patient and physician needs; assists with opening items for case, cleaning rooms between cases, and managing supplies during shift.
• Demonstrates competency in assisting surgeon within unit scope of care.
• Promotes cost containment while delivering quality patient care within the operating room.
• Participates in on‑call assignments and demonstrates flexibility to cover staffing as needed.
• Performs other functions within Surgical Services to support smooth department operation.
• Provides a safe environment for the surgical patient during their perioperative experience.
• Pursues own professional growth through continuing education and in‑services.

Required:

• Minimum of three years operating room scrubbing experience.
• High school graduate.
• Graduate of an approved Certified Surgical Assistant Program.
• Virginia surgical assistant license.
• Certification as a Surgical First Assistant; certification required within six (6) months of hire.

Preferred:

• One year experience as a surgical assistant.
