The position offers a sign‑on bonus of up to $15,000.
Location:
Salem, VA.
Full‑time weekends only position. Serve as a professional member of the operating room (OR) team, assisting the surgical team, maintaining sterile field, and supporting patient care.
- Utilizes principles of aseptic technique to create and maintain a sterile field.
- Plans and provides equipment and supplies based on patient and physician needs; assists with opening items for case, cleaning rooms between cases, and managing supplies during shift.
- Demonstrates competency in assisting surgeon within unit scope of care.
- Promotes cost containment while delivering quality patient care within the operating room.
- Participates in on‑call assignments and demonstrates flexibility to cover staffing as needed.
- Performs other functions within Surgical Services to support smooth department operation.
- Provides a safe environment for the surgical patient during their perioperative experience.
- Pursues own professional growth through continuing education and in‑services.
Required:
- Minimum of three years operating room scrubbing experience.
- High school graduate.
- Graduate of an approved Certified Surgical Assistant Program.
- Virginia surgical assistant license.
- Certification as a Surgical First Assistant; certification required within six (6) months of hire.
Preferred:
- One year experience as a surgical assistant.
