The Physical Therapist (PT) provides patient‑centered, evidence‑based care by managing the complete therapeutic process of an assigned group of patients. Responsibilities include patient assessments, individualized care plans, and authoritative guidance to patients and staff.
Responsibilities- Provide evaluations and treatment interventions within the scope of practice established by law and professional ethics.
- Assess and evaluate therapeutic, rehabilitative and functional status and participate in the development of the overall plan of care.
- Deliver skilled therapeutic care at patients’ homes and use procedures and techniques to produce measurable change in condition and function consistent with the physician’s plan.
- Instruct patients, families and caregivers in the use of therapies, exercises, therapeutic appliances, and prosthetic devices outside of therapy sessions.
- Prioritize caseload, determine daily staffing needs and coordinate assignments and hand‑offs.
- Graduate from an accredited school of Physical Therapy (Masters or Doctorate OR valid Virginia license to practice OT or in the process of obtaining licensure within 90 days through a traineeship and board exam).
- Preferred:
Previous experience in an acute care, outpatient, or rehab hospital and advanced training in a specialty area related to specific patient populations. - Advanced specialty training in a specific patient population is a plus.
