Laboratory Assistant – Lewis Gale Regional Health System

We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Lewis Gale Medical Center. In this role you will support high quality, efficient patient care by ensuring accurate specimen processing and maintaining laboratory integrity.

• Apply laboratory policies and procedures for specimen processing
• Maintain specimen integrity and evaluate acceptability for testing
• Prioritize and distribute specimens to the appropriate departments
• Process potentially infectious specimens in a safe manner
• Perform patient registration functions related to laboratory specimen referrals
• Demonstrate competency in specimen processing and related computer functions
• Work independently with limited supervision

• High School diploma or GED required
• Experience in specimen processing and knowledge of regulatory compliance
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
• Excellent communication skills and customer‑service orientation
