Position: Production Operator - Multiple Openings

The STS Group is a globally leading supplier of components and systems for the commercial vehicle and automotive industries headquartered in France. The Adler Pelzer Group, a global Tier 1 supplier, recently acquired the STS Group to expand its target market in the USA. STS is pioneering operations of Class A surface components for heavy trucks in the USA.

We are seeking experienced Production Operators (day shift) for the manufacturing processes of the brand new STS start‑up in Salem, Virginia – Roanoke, VA area. Forklift experience is a plus.

The Production Operator operates machinery to manufacture the highest quality automotive products as assigned to meet or exceed customer requirements. This role performs all functions as a team player contributing to the success of the whole. It is a high‑visibility role with opportunities for growth in the next few months as the plant launches.

The major responsibilities of the Production Operator are:
  • Required to begin production as scheduled (start of shift).
  • Ensures all manufacturing equipment is safe to operate and all guards and stop buttons are functioning prior to beginning production.
  • May complete other check lists or operator production sheets prior to and at end of production.
  • Manufactures product ensuring that all finished goods meet customer requirements in quality, quantity and proper packaging and labeling.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in work area and throughout the plant.
  • Follows APPS and Lean Manufacturing directives and instructions.
  • Ability to understand and comprehend operational work instructions.
  • Ability to work necessary overtime, which may include weekend work.
  • Good attendance and dependability record from previous employers.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds overhead as needed.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to operate a forklift is preferred.

Note: This section is not inclusive. Other duties are assigned as necessary to support team objectives.

Required Manufacturing Experience
  • SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) Thermoset
  • Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) Composites Technology
  • Hand layup thermoset (boats, truck tops, hot tubs, tanks, etc.)
  • Cast thermosets (bowling balls)
  • Fiber reinforced thermoplastics (LFTD, GMT, etc.)
  • Resin transfer molding (RTM)
  • Paint and adhesives
  • Epoxies
  • Thermoplastic molding (large parts preferred – TPO, DCPD)
  • Any compression molding of any materials
  • Tires
  • Manufacturing plant launch experience

3 years of previous manufacturing experience.
