Job Description:

One of the largest lead‑acid battery manufacturing sites in North America with 800 employees capable of producing more than 35,000 quality batteries per day.

These batteries are used in cars, boats, RVs and lawn equipment.

We proudly support the local community through Project Salina, the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, and volunteer work at the Smoky Hill River Festival.

The duties of the Engineering Manager include planning, designing, and overseeing projects, managing finances, and supervising the onsite engineering team.

Responsibilities include defining, maintaining, and supporting the battery manufacturing processes, leading process innovation, and coordinating material processing equipment integration.

Responsibilities
  • Provides direction regarding company policies and enforces safety policies and practices.
  • Maintain a zero-injury mindset.
  • Determine the need for training and talent development of the engineering team.
  • Provide clear and concise instructions to engineering team members.
  • Check the engineering team’s work for technical accuracy and detail.
  • Manage and direct all plant engineering activities, cost analysis and vendor processes.
  • Lead team to create scope of work for all projects.
  • Collaborate with production to improve throughput, ergonomics, and safety.
  • Establish a collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Work with vendors and contractors to meet timelines.
  • Manage engineering changes and implementation from quote to PPAP.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all engineering projects.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes for performance, utilization, space and layout.
  • Collaborate with plant personnel on operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with corporate engineering on product specifications.
  • Recommend operational or material handling revisions for improvement.
  • Oversee capital project installation/implementation.
  • Establish work measurement and analyze labor utilization.
  • Plan project improvements and support kaizens.
  • Comply with quality system requirements and Lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) preferred.
  • Five (5) years of proven work experience as an Engineering Manager or similar role.
Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, twist, and walk as necessary.
  • Analytical skills for evaluating information and solving problems.
  • Communication skills for overseeing staff and interacting with management.
  • Detail‑oriented with ability to catch errors.
  • Organizational skills for managing budgets, employees, and schedules.
Equipment Used
  • Computer skills for Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management.
  • Prefer experience and knowledge in CAD systems.
