Overview
The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician is a crucial part of our pharmacy team, responsible for assisting pharmacists in the operation of the pharmacy, focusing primarily on serving outpatient and employee customers. Under the supervision and direction of a pharmacist, the Outpatient Pharmacy Technician receives prescriptions, completes data entry, bills prescription insurance, troubleshoots insurance claims, answers patient and provider telephone calls, processes transactions through cash register, facilitates delivery of medications to patients, assists with inventory management, fills medication orders and performs related duties.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills, and a passion for patient care.
- Receive prescriptions and complete data entry under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Bill prescription insurance and troubleshoot insurance claims.
- Answer patient and provider telephone calls and process transactions through the cash register.
- Facilitate delivery of medications to patients and assist with inventory management.
- Fill medication orders and perform related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma
- One year pharmacy technician experience
- Kansas State Board of Pharmacy registered technician
- National Pharmacy Technician certification (CPht or ExCPT) prior to first registration renewal, in accordance with Kansas State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Regulation exemptions or licensure extensions may apply under certain conditions as outlined by the Board.
