Mental Health Specialist - Martin Youth Center

Central Kansas Mental Health Center has full-time openings as a Mental Health Specialist in our Martin Youth Crisis Center. Full-time openings are during 2nd shift (2-10p) and 3rd shift (3-11p) which also includes a shift differential and some weekends. The position works with children that need extra support, with the goal of keeping them in the community. We want to teach youth in our services skills to cope with their mental health needs and will coach them to keep working towards their goals.

Mental Health Specialists will work with kids individually and in group settings so they can practice the skills they have learned. The ideal candidate should be confident in their ability to stabilize the identified crisis safely. Assess the strengths and needs of the person in crisis and find innovative solutions by working with the child and treatment team. Our 2nd shift positions are also responsible for answering and participating in mobile crisis calls.

• Work individually and in group settings with children requiring extra support to practice learned skills.
• Teach youths skills to cope with mental health needs and coach them towards goals.
• Stabilize crises safely, assessing strengths and needs, and find innovative solutions with the treatment team.
• Respond to and participate in mobile crisis calls.
• Maintain shift duties during 2nd shift (2-10p) and 3rd shift (3-11p) including weekends, with shift differential.
• Support community retainment of children in community.
