Temporary (Athletics) Baseball & Softball Umpire
Temporary position in Parks & Recreation (Seasonal). Works under the supervision of the Recreation Superintendent of Athletics and/or program supervisor.
Responsibilities- Officiates youth & adult sports programs for baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, and kickball.
- Ensures participation safety by applying rules, policies & procedures, field set‑up, and game management.
- Manages conflicts & resolution among umpires, coaches, and parents.
- Demonstrates and provides instructions of the rules of the sport to participants.
- Develops problem‑solving and confrontation‑management skills.
- Thoroughly completes accident, incident, & other reports as necessary.
- Administers basic first aid when required.
- Responds to emergency situations within scope of training.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Must be 14 years old or older.
- Eighth grade graduate.
- Must attend officials training/clinic sponsored by Salina Parks & Recreation Department and/or be certified in the specific sport prior to the league season.
- CPR & First Aid certifications desired.
- Ability to work indoors & outdoors.

$18.00–$45.00 per game depending upon sport assigned & experience.
HoursWorks primarily evenings & weekends throughout the year (seasonal sport specific). 14‑year‑olds may be scheduled to work between 7:00 am–7:00 pm; 7:00 am–9:00 pm from June 1 to September 5th.
