We operate with a hands‑on, practical approach and are looking for a Fleet Operations Manager who understands trucking from the ground up and takes pride in running an efficient, compliant, and driver‑focused operation.
Position OverviewThe Fleet Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations of our trucking fleet, ensuring equipment readiness, driver support, and cost‑effective performance. This role works closely with ownership, dispatch, maintenance, and drivers to keep freight moving safely and on time.
This is a key leadership position for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced trucking environment and prefers problem‑solving over paperwork‑only management.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily fleet operations, including truck availability, utilization, and coordination with dispatch
- Oversee preventive maintenance schedules and work closely with maintenance providers to minimize downtime
- Serve as a point of contact for drivers regarding equipment issues, breakdowns, and operational support
- Track and analyze fleet metrics such as fuel usage, maintenance costs, breakdowns, and efficiency
- Assist with accident reporting, incident investigations, and insurance documentation
- Support driver onboarding, training, and retention efforts from a maintenance perspective
- Help implement and manage fleet technologies such as ELDs and GPS tracking systems
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and cost control
- Experience managing commercial trucks and drivers
- Comfortable working with ELD systems, fleet tracking, and maintenance records
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to make sound decisions under pressure
- 3+ years of experience in trucking operations, fleet management, or transportation logistics
- Experience working with regional or over‑the‑road trucking fleets
- CDL or prior driving experience
- Mechanical knowledge or experience coordinating truck maintenance
- Familiarity with Midwest freight lanes and operations
