Position: Future Ready Program Coach -Full Time (IL-II)

Title: College & Career Readiness Advisor (Impact Lead II)

Status: Full-time, Non-exempt (40 hours per week)

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm (additional morning, evening, or weekend hours may be required to meet program partner and school needs)

Location: Salinas and Seaside Clubhouse

Reports to: Future Ready Coordinator

Position Overview

As part of the Future Ready program, the College & Career Readiness Advisor equips students with the academic and vocational skills needed to overcome obstacles on their path to college graduation and future employment. Future Ready staff support young adults ages 16‑24, growing the number of youth served from 20 clients in 2024 to 100 by the end of 2026. The Advisor provides counseling on college application, financial aid, and career exploration while developing students’ social and emotional skills, including how to ask for help, access resources, build support networks, and maintain confidence.

Students pursuing certification in trades or the military also receive support from club staff.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Implement Future Ready programming: program goals, activities, and schedules at all locations and virtually as needed.
  • Travel between clubhouse locations and attend off‑site meetings at schools, universities, and vocational programs.
  • Manage a caseload of 50 young adults, maintaining engagement and supporting postsecondary goals.
  • Execute college readiness workshops, college and financial aid application support, career development skill building, and personal well‑being programming.
  • Build relationships with students and understand their postsecondary goals.
  • Maintain organized records, conduct research, collect and analyze data, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders by deadlines.
  • Develop, cultivate, and manage communication with students, families, school staff, and community partners.
  • Support the administration of the BGCMC Scholarship program, ensuring equitable access.
  • Solicit and facilitate alumni participation in fundraising efforts and stakeholder engagement.
  • Attend resource fairs and initiatives that connect participants with educational and career opportunities.
  • Facilitate alumni events such as reunions, networking opportunities, and mentoring programs.
  • Provide one‑on‑one case management support and track case files.
  • Facilitate workshops in person and via Zoom.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years working with high school‑aged youth and young adults.
  • Experience navigating high school graduation, college application, and financial aid systems.
  • Guided youth through the college application process.
  • Background working in an ethnically diverse community and meeting the needs of Monterey County populations.
  • Strong initiative, self‑starter, intrinsically motivated, problem solver.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and youth development experience.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, G‑Suite, and Outlook.
  • Valid driver’s license and successful Moving Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
  • Occasional travel between club sites required.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
  • Fluency in Spanish (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of CSU and UC systems (applications, financial aid, admissions).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Remain in a stationary position (standing or sitting) for up to 50 % of the time.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary begins at $22.03 to $23.15 per hour, commensurate with qualifications. Benefits include vacation, paid sick leave, medical, vision, pension, and a 403(b) plan. The position is non‑exempt and eligible for overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
