About Our Opportunity

The Rural 1st Loan Officer (RLO) is a sales position primarily responsible for building relationships with business contacts and customers in the consumer market segment. The RLO will use their knowledge of the consumer marketplace, products and finance to fully understand the customer's or prospect's business and personal plans and then market the Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st financial services that best meet the needs.

The RLO has the responsibility for originating credit to their customers by assessing the request and obtaining business and financial information needed to determine the viability and profitability of the deal. After initially screening for soundness, the RLO submits the information to an analyst, underwriter or scoring system for final decision. The RLO leads the customer relationship and often coordinates with others to serve the customer's loan, lease, crop insurance and servicing needs.

This position requires existing NMLS registration under the SAFE Act, or the ability to obtain the same upon hire, and maintenance of a status in good standing during employment.

How You Will Spend Your Time SALES and RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

The RLO develops and maintains a significant professional presence that yields sales that increase the Association’s market share in the assigned territory. The RLO spends most of the time out of the office to build professional relationships with customers, prospective customers and influencers based on mutual trust and respect. Using an understanding of customer goals, credit strengths and weaknesses, the RLO delivers “value added”/constructive financial information to customers.

The RLO:

  • Determines and defines the appropriate customer interaction and coordinates the appropriate staff that may directly or indirectly be a part of the relationship to serve the customer’s loan and servicing needs.
  • Communicates to the customer and to internal team members regarding the customer’s needs.
  • Introduces customers to the Association’s process and the team members who will support the process.
DELIVER SOUND CREDIT

As part of the ongoing consultative relationship with our customers, the RLO:

  • Gathers and documents customer financial information and application details, in compliance with lending requirements and in coordination with Rural 1st Loan Associates.
  • Interprets and evaluates financial information and asks relevant follow-up and probing questions to determine the appropriate product or service.
  • Recommends loan terms, conditions, and collateral position consistent with the request and associated loan risks; sets clear expectations with the customer, and documents pertinent customer information in association systems.
  • Communicates credit decisions, loan terms and conditions to the customer.
