Research Technician – Entry Level (8427)

Duda Farm Fresh Foods is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Research Technician to join our dynamic Research and Development team in Salinas, CA. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a sophisticated and large-scale celery breeding program, while also providing technical support to both the celery and radish breeding initiatives. The position is responsible for assisting in all technical aspects of the breeding programs, including filling trial seed packets, sowing seed in greenhouses and cages, planting selections, performing hand pollinations for radish, monitoring greenhouse and cage plant health, communicating issues to a supervisor, harvesting and cleaning seed from selections and research cages, conducting germination tests, and other day‑to‑day activities warranted by the breeding programs.

This position reports to Assistant Manager, Seed Operations and is located in Salinas, California.

• Monitoring greenhouse and cages for plant health issues and communicating with supervisor.
• Harvesting and cleaning seed from selections and research cages.
• Conducting germination tests and accurately recording results.
• Sowing seed in greenhouses and cages, planting selections, and performing hand pollinations for the radish breeding program.
• Assisting with packaging of trial seed.
• Evaluating seed crops to ensure purity and trueness to variety, focusing on hybrids and OPs, and improving protocols to maintain seed quality.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma required.
• Knowledge or interest in agriculture preferred.
• Valid California driver’s license.
• One or more years of greenhouse or seed company experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.

• Work environment includes office, warehouse, cold room, laboratory, and field.
• Bilingual preferred but not required.
• Ability to work well independently and in a team.
• Willingness to work outside normal business hours (8:00 AM‑5:00 PM) and weekends when necessary.
