Overview

A growing logistics company specializing in fresh produce transportation is looking for a Business Development Coordinator to expand its network of growers, shippers, and supply chain partners. Based in Salinas—California’s produce capital—you’ll play a vital role in driving growth and ensuring perishable products move efficiently from farm to destination.

Salary: $95,000.00-$
What You’ll Be Doing- Identifying and developing new business opportunities in the fresh produce and perishable freight sector
- Building trust-based relationships with growers, shippers, and supply chain partners
- Conducting outreach through calls, emails, and in-person visits to build your book of business
- Offering tailored transportation solutions based on produce seasonality and freight needs
- Responding to customer inquiries and RFPs with accuracy and urgency
- Collaborating with internal teams to ensure smooth quoting, booking, and delivery
- Proactively tracking shipments and maintaining clear communication with customers
- Logging activity in CRM systems, managing a clean pipeline, and supporting a seamless handoff to operations
- Meeting or exceeding sales goals and outreach targets
- Staying current on industry and market trends, especially seasonal shifts affecting fresh freight
- 2+ years of experience in freight brokerage, logistics sales, or account management (preferably produce freight)
- Strong understanding of refrigerated and time-sensitive shipments
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational abilities and multitasking under tight deadlines
- Familiarity with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and logistics platforms (TMS experience is a plus)
- Independent, self-motivated, and comfortable working on the road
- You’ll work in one of the most essential logistics niches: fresh produce
- Build a strong professional network across the supply chain
