JOB SUMMARY
As a Monitor II, your primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth operation of our AB 109 transitional housing program by contributing to a rehabilitative, supportive, and safe environment. The Monitor II reports to the Program Director and provides justice-involved residents with guidance on program expectations and available resources. The Monitor II maintains resident accountability and safety by conducting thorough and regular check-ins to assess each resident's adherence to program guidelines.
The Monitor II position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding the principles of rehabilitation and community safety.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide constant and vigilant supervision and monitoring of all residents.Monitor and ensure residents comply with program regulations, schedules, and chore assignments.Generate timely, accurate, and detailed record of resident incidents, interactions, behavior, progress, risks, or potential concerns.Communicate, share insights, collaborate, and work closely with other program team members to provide updates on residents to ensure supervision is coordinated and effective.Conduct and document frequent rounds and checks of all areas occupied by residents, including the facility perimeter, to observe behavior, confirm resident count, check on residents' well-being, and identify any maintenance, safety, or security issues at prescribed random intervals.Act as a resource for residents, offering guidance on program expectations and available community resources to support residents throughout their transition to the community.Provide orientation for new residents, including a tour of the facility and a review of resident guidelines, services, amenities, and schedules.Maintain confidentiality, respect the confidential nature of conversations with residents, and adhere to professional ethics and legal guidelines.Develop and maintain respectful and empathetic professional-resident relationships and establish and maintain clear professional boundaries.Use active listening techniques to understand resident's needs and respond appropriately.Remain flexible and adaptable to changes in workload and assignments.Be professional, attentive, and responsive to calls, emails, or individuals entering the facility.Provide clerical support with filing and other general office duties.Administer urine or oral swab specimen collection for resident drug screens and process specimens using approved procedures.Conduct routine resident security screening and searches, including personal property, rooms, vehicles, and body scans.Will respond quickly and efficiently in emergencies.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED.Two (2) years of experience in a monitor position or working with the justice-involved population or equivalent education in criminal justice or related field is preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to work with individuals and staff members of diverse cultural backgrounds.Understand and follow oral and written instructions.Operate modern office equipment, including computer equipment and specialized software applications and programs.Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Office 365, and Microsoft Teams;
Zoom and other communication and meeting platforms.CPR and emergency first aid certification is preferred.Ability to make informed and ethical decisions in complex and sensitive situations.Ability to generate timely, legible and accurate documentation of behaviors and facility events.ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
