Primary Montessori Co-Lead Teacher in Saline, MI, US

The Co-Lead Teacher of a Northstar Montessori classroom is a guide who helps direct the children’s academic, emotional, and physical development in a prepared and peaceful Montessori environment that challenges each child to reach his/her fullest potential. The Co-Lead Teacher shall set up, operate, and maintain their classroom with the order and neatness characteristic of the Montessori environment. The Co-Lead Teacher shall communicate collaboratively with all families and staff, striving to become the most effective educator possible.

The educator filling this position will Co-Lead a Primary Montessori Classroom with our Director of Primary Programming, and will occasionally be assigned to work as a Substitute Lead in our other Primary Montessori classrooms as needs arise.

The ideal candidate must hold a Primary Montessori Teaching Credential from a MACTE accredited institution, AMI, AMS, or IMC, and be located within commuting distance of Saline, MI.

This is a permanent, full time (40 hours/week) position.

Duties:

  • Possesses an attitude which shows belief in the Montessori philosophy and pride in the work being done.
  • Carries out duties and work schedules in a consistent manner.
  • Attends all staff meetings.
  • Consistently arrives at work in a timely fashion.
  • Respects and adheres to all safety requirements.
  • Works collaboratively with the Director, their Co-Lead Teacher, Assistant Teachers, and other Support Staff.
  • Serves as a role model to the Assistant Teachers in the classroom.
  • Models desirable communication habits.
  • Prepares the environment to meet each child’s needs, using observation to develop strategies that engage the child.
  • Provides and models a peaceful learning environment.
  • Keeps the classroom environment clean and orderly.
  • Seeks out and participates in professional development to improve quality within the school and to meet all State of Michigan requirements.
  • Works with other teachers on special programming and school events.
  • Communicates as often as necessary to individual families about their child(ren).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
