Physician - OB​/GYN - Medical Director

Tidal Health on Maryland's coast is seeking an experienced and visionary Medical Director of OB/GYN Services to lead and integrate inpatient and outpatient obstetric and gynecologic care. This individual will oversee clinical operations, quality initiatives, and strategic direction across the OB/GYN department, and will supervise both the Residency Program Director (PD) and inpatient medical teams to ensure excellence in education, patient care, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical leadership and operational oversight for OB/GYN inpatient and outpatient services.
• Supervise and support the OB/GYN Residency Program Director to ensure compliance with ACGME standards and support educational excellence.
• Collaborate with hospital administration, nursing, and allied health leadership to optimize service delivery and patient outcomes.
• Monitor and improve key quality and performance metrics (e.g., maternal morbidity, surgical outcomes, patient satisfaction).
• Lead departmental quality improvement initiatives and promote evidence-based care.
• Ensure coordination and continuity of care across the inpatient and outpatient continuum.
• Oversee and manage locum tenens coverage as needed to ensure consistent staffing and continuity of care.
• Mentor physicians and support ongoing professional development.
• Participate in strategic planning and resource allocation.
• Serve as a liaison between OB/GYN faculty, hospital leadership, and community partners.

Qualifications:

• MD or DO degree with board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Eligible for medical licensure in MD.
• Clinical OB/GYN experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or administrative role.
• Demonstrated success in managing teams, improving quality metrics, and supporting graduate medical education.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with academic medicine and GME accreditation standards (preferred).
