WELDING FOREMAN
Reports to:
President/Vice-President/Shipyard Superintendent
- Oversee the welding operation and supervise the teams responsible for the welding associated with building cruise ships.
- An aggressive work ethic with a focus on production is required.
- Must have 3-5 years of supervisor experience in welding.
- Must have working knowledge of stick and semi-automatic welding equipment.
- Work closely with other foreman.
- Ability to apply basic math.
- Operate hand‑held powered equipment and manual tools (i.e. plasma torches).
- Practice proper safety and always keep job site clean.
- Facilitate welding tests for the yard.
- Assign duties to workers and establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Able to inspect any work and ensure that it will meet all QA Standards.
- Fill out and verify weekly employee timecards.
- Demonstrate layout proficiency.
- All other duties as required.
This is a full‑time, non‑exempt, benefits‑eligible position.
Monday – Friday, 45‑50+ hours per week, Day Shift 6:00 am – 3:30 pm.
Overtime and weekend required based on business needs.
RequirementsKnowledge
- Experience reading and understanding physical and digital blueprints, sketches, and templates.
- Experience leading a team.
- Safe use of all tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of crane hand signals.
- Familiar with the operation of heavy machinery.
- Shipyard experience a plus.
- Proficient with operating a computer including Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements
- All types of physical movement are required for this position.
- Ability to use upper and lower extremities.
- Ability to work outside in heat, inclement weather, and cold.
- Ability to crawl, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend around and under equipment, on ladders up to 24 ft at heights up to 70 ft, stairs, scaffolds, through small accesses, enter inside tanks, and confined spaces, through hatches, and manholes throughout much of the work shift.
- Able to work over bodies of water.
- Ability to traverse uneven terrain, including loose pack gravel.
Mental Requirements
Normal level of visual acuity needed. Must be able to understand and follow directions. Normal hearing level needed. Hand‑eye coordination required.
Hazards
Weather, fumes, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, equipment, and vibration.
