Overview

Join the Millwright team at Chesapeake Shipbuilding
. This role focuses on the safe and efficient maintenance of marine machinery.

Reports to:

OSM Supervisor / On-Site Foreman / Shipyard Superintendent.

• Perform overhaul, maintenance, and testing of pumps, valves, turbines, condensers, shafts, and winches.
• Disassemble and reassemble marine equipment, including pumps, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
• Set up and operate drill presses and portable machining tools.
• Apply basic machine shop math and layout proficiency.
• All other duties as assigned based on operational needs.

• Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, and gearboxes.
• Install below-deck auxiliaries (evaporators, heaters, condensers) and connect to proper equipment.
• Read and understand blueprints, sketches, and templates.
• Manual and semi-automatic welding procedures.
• Familiar with industry codes and regulations.
• Safe use of all tools and equipment.
• Work independently and with teams.

• All types of physical movement required.
• Ability to use upper and lower extremities.
• Work outside in heat, inclement weather, and cold.
• Lift/move up to 75 pounds.
• Able to work over bodies of water.

40-50 hours per week. Standard 8-hour shifts Monday‑Friday. Candidate may be asked to work weekends.

Day Shift: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm or 3:30 pm based on operational needs.

• Competitive pay $26‑$35 per hour plus 6G weld test bonus.
