Boiler Controls & Combustion Technician - Salisbury
We are seeking a skilled Boiler Controls & Combustion Technician to join our service team. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technician with strong experience in commercial and industrial boiler systems, combustion controls, and PLC/DDC‑based control systems. You'll work directly at customer sites, diagnosing and repairing boiler control systems, performing startups and upgrades, and delivering high‑quality service that keeps critical facilities operating safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair boiler control systems and boiler accessories.
- Perform new equipment installations, startups, and system commissioning.
- Troubleshoot PLC, DDC, ladder logic, and electrical control systems.
- Service combustion systems including flame safeguard controls and emissions equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance: open/clean/close, combustion tuning, and emissions analysis.
- Execute upgrades including gas conversions, flame safeguard systems, and parallel positioning controls.
- Download, back up, and update boiler control software and files.
- Maintain accurate service tickets, time, labor, and material records.
- Participate in vendor training and company-sponsored technical classes.
- Support sales and service teams by identifying customer leads.
- Assist with training and mentoring junior technicians.
- Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation as scheduled.
- 2+ years of experience working with commercial or industrial boiler systems.
- Strong knowledge of boiler room equipment and steam systems, combustion and combustion controls, flame safeguard controls, PLC, DDC, ladder logic, electrical drawings, HVACR systems (supporting experience).
- Experience with control software and basic computer proficiency (MS Office).
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and safety documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Professional communication and customer‑facing experience.
- Valid Driver's License (required).
- Apprentice or Journeyman License (preferred).
- First or Second Grade Engineer's License (a plus, not required).
