The VISN Clinical Resource Hub (CRH) is a repository of clinical and administrative staff that serve Veterans Affairs facilities within a VISN. Staff within the CRH are expected to provide interprofessional services to VISN facilities that are underserved or experiencing gaps in clinicians due to the inability to match provider supply with demand. Services provided by CRH staff are primarily conducted via Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT) and VA Video Connect (VVC).

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Under the 180-day Mid-Term Extensions (MTE). This position could be approved for Mid-Term Extensions (MTE). MTE allows for the facility leader to grant employees in the identified positions an extension up to 180-days to RTO; in which case approved positions would be approved locally to grant telework/remote for those 180-days.
The Tele Mental Health Hub Psychiatry section within CRH can provide care in various psychiatric settings: inpatient units, ambulatory/outpatient programs, residential program for substance abuse, residential program for PTSD, emergency department, medical-surgical ward psychiatric consultation and geriatrics with extended programs. Tele Mental Health Hub psychiatrists are expected to provide psychiatric care in those settings as required and needed. At this time, the care is primarily within outpatient mental health.
The Tele Mental Health Hub Chief and the Tele Mental Health Psychiatry Section Chief are responsible for the overall clinical and administrative function of the Tele Mental Health Psychiatry section within CRH.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
* Performs psychiatric evaluations for a diverse populations across the full spectrum of DSM 5 diagnoses.
* Responsible for assessing the patients' needs, developing a comprehensive collaborative care plan, and delivering high-quality evidence-based mental health care
* Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders.
* Ensures practice of psychiatric medicine is consistent with TJC, CARF, HIPPA, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, and mandatory continuing education.
* Participates effectively in team meetings as a subject matter expert in the support of the behavioral health interdisciplinary team and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to enhance coordination of comprehensive patient care.
* Functions as part of a psychiatric care team working with other physicians, PA's, APN's, nurses, Pharmacists, Psychologist, LCSW & other team members.
* Orders diagnostic tests and consultations and incorporates the findings in the medical decision-making process relevant to the patient's individual needs. Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.
* Perform and teach all of the services required in the practice of psychiatry to psychiatry residents as approved by ACGME. May provide educational experiences to appropriate health care personnel who seek training in mental health services (e.g. medical students, psychology and social work interns, physician assistant and nursing students, and non-psychiatric medical residents).
