We are seeking a Controls Engineer to join our team in Salisbury, NC.
Essential Functions- Actively supports the promotion of, and engage in, Process and workplace SHE, especially the major accident hazards and Basis of Safety areas.
- Provide Low Voltage (up to 480V) Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering expertise to the PC Business Unit to enable such to operate in a safe and efficient manner.
- To develop and maintain existing and future Site E&IC Standards / Codes of Practice, in line with current Legislation, Regulations & US Standards.
- Identify capital and revenue investment requirements in relation to the EC&I equipment and systems installed within the site to ensure safety, equipment fit-for-purpose, energy efficiency and cost effectiveness is maintained and where possible continuously improved. This includes the preparation of technical justification.
- Identify and implement new technologies for new applications & upgrades. Design to approved procedures to minimize potential for major process accident hazards.
- Scope, Specify & Produce detailed design packages to facilitate installation by contract personnel, including:
- Instrument & Systems
- Functional Safety Installations
- Low Voltage Electrical Installations
- AutoCAD Release 14 or Higher
- Cyber Security of the DCS & PLC systems
- Development and Custodian of DCS/PLC/SCADA and other control systems in the NC sites.
- Authorized Site Approver for EC&I Systems, Design Packages, and Handover Documentation created by Project E&I + Systems Engineering Team.
- Authorized Signatory for EC&I Aspects of Change Control.
- Provide EC&I Technical knowledge to Change Control, HAZOP, Functional Safety, Cyber Security & Safety Assessments.
- Provide problem solving and technical support to Project, Operations and Maintenance Teams as required.
- Deliver E/I Capex Projects in support of NC Site expansion strategy plus improvements from concept through to commissioning and handover.
- Support the ongoing Knowledge Management, Quality Improvement programs.
- Support development of staff through relevant personal assessments, development of technical competencies and promotion of teamwork within, and between, teams.
- Degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Controls Engineering.
- Proven experience in chemical plant EI/I design engineering both from an office and on the plant. Comfortable with handling detail.
- 10 years in the Chemical industry or similar, ideally within a Plant Engineering role or Design Engineering within relevant discipline.
- Practical, can-do approach coupled with strong technical knowledge. Hands on approach – capable of delivering work themselves as well as through others.
- Familiar with the practical application of relevant Directives, Standards, Codes of practices and guidelines including industry legislation and industry best practice.
- Experience of Control Systems such as Rockwell, Allen Bradley & SCADA Systems advantageous. Use of AutoCAD R14 or higher, MS Office including MS Project.
