American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a fast-paced primary cardiac and stroke unit requiring 2+ years of Cardiac Tele experience and ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications.
Requirements- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending acceptable at submission
- Certifications:
ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS - Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Telemetry experience required (hard requirement, no substitutions)
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Skills required:
IV therapy/phlebotomy, telemetry monitoring, pre/post cardiac procedure care, cardiac drip management - Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration preferred)
- Experience with pacemakers, cardiac catheterization, and TR bands preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Primary cardiac and stroke unit within a hospital setting
- Patient ratios of 1:5-6, with surge capacity up to 6 patients
- 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
- 13-26 week contract options available
- 36 hours per week can be offered
- Self-scheduling with leadership oversight; no block scheduling permitted
- Every other weekend required, including 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays within a 6-week period
- On-call requirements vary based on patient census
- Floating required within or near the facility
- Uses Epic (Dimensions), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
- Team lead support available to assist with admissions and discharges
- Unit turns over approximately 78-90 patients per week
- Provide care for stable pre/post procedure cardiac patients including pacemaker implants, cardioverter/defibrillators, and cardiac catheterization
- Manage patients with unstable angina, low-risk chest pain, CHF, dysrhythmias, and new CVA/TIA diagnoses
- Monitor and titrate cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
- Unit houses COVID-positive patients using high-flow oxygen and BiPAP during surges
- 36 hours of unit orientation required; must be available all week one for hospital orientation
- Navy blue or white scrubs permitted, along with Novant t-shirts; jackets must match scrub material and color; no crocs with holes
- First-time travelers welcome if they meet the 2-year Cardiac Tele experience requirement
- Previous Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a reduced rate
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO allowed during first week
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs allowed if on different units with separate schedules and transportation
