We provide comprehensive Respiratory service for both Inpatient & Outpatients across the range of sub‑specialities and work closely with our primary care colleagues. Our services are supported by an excellent multidisciplinary team of Respiratory and Lung Cancer Nurse specialists along with outpatient physiotherapy and pulmonary physiology. We have a well‑established fibre optic bronchoscopy, EBUS and thoracoscopy service with opportunity to develop this further.

Our robust Lung Cancer service delivers systemic anti‑cancer therapy on site with timely radiotherapy & surgery provided by colleagues in Southampton. We offer a small domiciliary non‑complex non‑invasive ventilation service as well as an extensive Sleep service. We have close links with the Southampton Difficult Asthma & Interstitial Lung Disease teams & other tertiary centres in London & further afield.

• Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred inpatient & outpatient specialist care to a local population of around 270,000 people.
• Inpatient responsibilities on a rotational basis focusing on the respiratory ward & speciality inpatient referral on some weeks and more outpatient & procedure activity on other weeks.
• Engage in practical training & education for speciality trainees via our ambulatory pleural service, indwelling intra‑pleural catheter insertion and thoracoscopy service.
• Participate in a weekly multidisciplinary team meeting for Lung Cancer and collaborate with medical, clinical oncology & palliative care teams.
• Provide expertise in domiciliary non‑complex non‑invasive ventilation and contribute to the local Sleep service.
• Develop links with the regional Spinal Unit, Southampton Different Asthma & Interstitial Lung Disease teams and tertiary centres as needed.

• GMC Registration with CCT in Respiratory Medicine
• Accredited in General Medicine
• Evidence of broad, high‑level training and competence in Respiratory Medicine including related clinical procedures
• Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and developing professional relationships across the wider healthcare community
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, including motivation and development of staff
• Commitment to active clinical governance and learning from errors
• Clear written and spoken communication skills and consideration of patient preferences when discussing treatment options
• Interest and commitment to teaching and the ability to teach clinical skills to trainees and others
