SEN Teaching Assistant - Salisbury
Prospero Teaching is searching for a patient, caring, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support a welcoming school in Salisbury. This is a long-term role working closely with pupils who require additional support due to learning differences, communication needs, autism, ADHD, or social-emotional challenges. The school offers a friendly and supportive environment where staff work together to ensure every child receives the help they need to thrive.
Your role will focus on providing 1:1 support, assisting with classroom learning, and helping pupils feel confident, calm, and engaged throughout the school day. This position is ideal for individuals from care, support work, youth work, SEN settings, or graduates focused on psychology, education, or child development who want a rewarding role where they can genuinely make a difference.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
- Help pupils manage routines, transitions, and daily expectations
- Support communication, confidence, and emotional regulation
- Assist teachers with adapted tasks and supportive strategies
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and social skills
- Work collaboratively with SENCO, teaching staff, and pastoral teams
- Create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment for learning
- Experience in SEN, care, youth work, childcare, or support roles
- Calm, patient, and confident working with diverse needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Able to build positive relationships and offer consistent support
- Adaptable and comfortable working across different age groups
- Psychology, education, criminology, or health & social care graduates welcome

- Contract Length:

- Experience working with children desirable
- Safeguarding training can be provided
- Knowledge of SEND strategies beneficial
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
- Two relevant references
- Free accredited CPD (safeguarding, behaviour support, SEND training)
- Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
