Contract: Full-Time | Temporary to Permanent

A specialist school in Salisbury is expanding its provision with the opening of four new classrooms and is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to join the team from September.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people aged 4–16 who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and other associated learning and behavioural challenges.

We are currently recruiting for a Teacher to work within a specialist department that supports students experiencing significant anxiety and learning delays.

Due to the nature of their needs, students remain within the same classroom environment throughout the school day and are taught by the same teacher across a range of subjects. This approach helps to provide consistency, build trusting relationships, and create a safe and supportive learning environment where students can thrive.

Although the students are of secondary school age, many are working at a primary academic level. As such, the successful candidate will be confident delivering a broad and adaptable curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across a range of curriculum subjects.
  • Create a nurturing, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Build positive and consistent relationships with students to support their emotional wellbeing and academic progress.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet a variety of learning needs and developmental stages.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, parents, and other professionals.
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to individual learning and support plans.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through a therapeutic and student-centred approach.
Who We’re Looking For
  • Qualified Primary Teachers looking to work within a specialist educational setting.
  • Qualified Secondary Teachers with experience delivering a mixed or cross-curricular curriculum.
  • Teachers with experience supporting students with SEMH needs, Autism, anxiety, or additional learning needs.
  • Professionals who are patient, resilient, empathetic, and committed to helping vulnerable young people achieve their potential.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Strong classroom management and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to differentiate learning to meet individual student needs.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
Benefits
  • The opportunity to be part of an exciting period of growth and development.
  • Small class sizes and a highly supportive working environment.
  • Ongoing professional development and specialist training opportunities.
  • The chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people who require additional support to succeed.
  • A full‑time position with the opportunity to become permanent.
