Teaching Assistant – Whaddon C of E School

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is enthusiastic, has a sense of humour, demonstrates initiative and offers a strong pastoral ethos to support our small, inclusive, Christian community. The role will involve working alongside qualified teachers to support individual students, both in general and special educational needs classes, through one‑to‑one and small‑group intervention, administer welfare support, and supervise children during play, lunch and outdoor learning sessions.

Responsibilities

• Support class teachers by providing one‑to‑one and small group assistance to children with specific needs.
• Provide administrative and welfare support to the whole class.
• Supervise students during play, lunchtimes and outdoor learning.
• Assist with curriculum preparation and classroom tasks.
• Attend training and development sessions as required.

Fixed Term Contract (initially)

Full time

Qualifications

• A good level of secondary education, inclusive of Maths and English GCSE, or equivalent
• Relevant Level 3 Early Years Teaching Assistant qualification, or willingness to complete the course
• Recent Early Years Level 3 qualification
• Team Teach (or comparable physical intervention) training
• Evidence of participation in school or setting based training and development
• Awareness of Montessori approach and Forest School ethos
• Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs
• Experience working in a school as staff or volunteer
• Positive, enthusiastic and energetic approach to work
• Commitment to safeguarding culture and promoting the welfare of children and young people
