Principal Technologist

A leading autonomous systems and aerospace engineering business is looking for a Principal Technologist to help shape the future of advanced UAS capability in the UK.

This is a senior technical leadership role focused on autonomy, avionics, systems integration and emerging technologies. You’ll drive technology strategy, influence future product direction and lead innovation across next‑generation autonomous flight systems.

The role combines strategic thinking with hands‑on engineering and would suit someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems while helping shape long‑term capability.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading technology roadmaps across advanced UAS systems
• Evaluating emerging technologies including AI/ML and autonomy
• Guiding systems architecture and integration decisions
• Leading R&D activities and innovation programmes
• Collaborating with industry, customers and academia

Key experience Needed:

• Strong background in UAS, avionics or autonomous systems
• Systems engineering and flight control knowledge
• Experience delivering technically complex platforms
• Ability to influence across engineering and business stakeholders
