Help maintain aircraft that support critical missions and take your engineering career to new heights at MoD Boscombe Down, near Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Role OverviewAs a Licensed Aircraft Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic, multi‑disciplined aviation engineering team dedicated to delivering safe, compliant, dependable aircraft. You will work alongside mechanical and avionic specialists to ensure effective generation and release to service of aircraft that support vital defence operations.
Responsibilities- Carry out aircraft engineering, line and depth maintenance to keep aircraft serviceable and safe.
- Perform release‑to‑service responsibilities in accordance with regulatory and safety requirements.
- Provide clear technical guidance to technicians and inspectors during maintenance activities.
- Support Babcock and client stakeholders with technical insight and problem‑solving.
- Complete engineering documentation, ensuring standards, compliance and accuracy at all times.
- Proven problem‑solving and analytical capability within an engineering environment.
- Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with colleagues and customers.
- Ability to prioritise, simplify complexity and use sound judgement in operational decisions.
- Knowledge of composite materials and MoD engineering procedures/documentation.
- EASA Part 66 B1 licence.
- Supervisory experience in a civil or military aviation environment.
- Ability to demonstrate required practical and theoretical engineering standards.
- Full UK driving licence.
- (Desirable) Type rating on Grob 115E aircraft and Lycoming 360 engines.
Must be able to achieve and maintain Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) / Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance. Certain roles may require additional clearance levels; details can be found at the UK Security Vetting government site.
