Finance Manager (Future Finance Director Opportunity)

We are seeking a dynamic finance professional who can bring strong technical financial capability, commercial awareness and strategic thinking to Odstock Medical Ltd (OML). Working directly with the Managing Director, you will become a trusted business partner, providing insight, challenge and financial leadership to support decision‑making as the company scales. This role is designed for someone who wants to progress beyond financial management and develop towards a future Finance Director position, taking ownership of the financial strategy and growth of the organisation.

Main

Duties
  • Financial Leadership & Business Growth
    • Work closely with the Managing Director to support the financial growth strategy.
    • Provide commercial insight and financial guidance to support business decisions.
    • Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting and performance management.
    • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency and scalability.
    • Support strategic projects and future investment opportunities.
    • Take ownership of the company's P&L management.
    • Manage monthly management accounts, reporting and financial analysis.
    • Oversee cash flow forecasting, financial controls and business performance tracking.
    • Manage banking relationships and financial processes.
    • Ensure accurate and timely financial information is available to the leadership team.
  • Board & Executive Reporting
    • Prepare high‑quality financial reports and board papers.
    • Present financial insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
    • Support governance, compliance and business planning activities.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Strengthen finance systems, processes and reporting structures.
    • Support the development of scalable financial operations.
    • Work collaboratively across the organisation to embed strong financial understanding.
    • Contribute to building a high‑performing medical technology business.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Qualified accountant or working toward a recognised professional accountancy qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW).
  • Strong understanding of UK financial accounting principles, statutory reporting and financial controls.
  • Proven experience managing P&L, budgets, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Experience preparing management accounts and financial information for senior leadership teams.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and business planning processes.
  • Previous experience working within Medical Technology, Healthcare, Life Sciences, Engineering, Manufacturing or another regulated industry.
  • Experience supporting a growing organisation through change, scaling or transformation.
  • Understanding of commercial finance, revenue growth, margin improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Experience preparing board‑level financial reports, presentations and strategic insights.
  • Experience working with banking relationships, audits, compliance and financial governance.
