Role Overview

Technical Author – Slaughterhouses and Animal By‑Products – UKBAT – 32429
Environment Agency – UK

Responsibilities
  • Draft BAT Conclusions and liaise with Technical Working Groups.
  • Prepare a final document suitable for publication as a UK‑wide, environmental standard for industry.
  • Participate in the transparent, collaborative, data‑and‑evidence‑led process that safeguards and builds on current high levels of environmental protection.
  • Work with, write and edit technical documents in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • Apply strong project management skills to deliver on time and support travel requirements for industry visits.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in the slaughterhouse and animal by‑products industry.
  • Solid understanding of environmental regulation, UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, including IED and Environmental Permitting Regulations.
  • Specialist knowledge of the Slaughterhouse and Animal By‑Products industry and process engineering, and environmental issues.
  • Excellent critical analysis of technical arguments and data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Demonstrated project management and prioritisation skills.
Employment Details

Full‑time – Mid‑Senior level – Contract up to 2 years from appointment.
