Job Summary

One exciting post has arisen for a well‑motivated and enthusiastic HCPC‑registered Biomedical Scientist to join our team in Laboratory Medicine at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.

Applications Are Invited For

HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist (band 5 or 6 depending on meeting person specification and experience). As a Band 6 you will have an IBMS Specialist Diploma in Clinical Biochemistry.

Main Duties of the Job

The laboratory is an IBMS registered training laboratory with a strong training ethos. As a Biomedical Scientist you will undertake day‑to‑day analysis and validation of results, together with monitoring of quality indicators. You will participate in out‑of‑hours shifts once trained and competent in the relevant areas. The Biochemistry laboratory has a managed service contract with Roche and runs two Roche Cobas 8000 lines with associated preanalytical modules.

It also has a Specialist Protein Section using Sebia and Binding Site systems.

Good communication skills, teamwork and an aptitude for problem‑solving are essential, as is a flexible attitude to work and willingness to adapt to changes in working practice. The ideal candidate will be keen to develop their knowledge and skills.

  • Qualification
    • BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or equivalent
    • State Registration as a Biomedical Scientist with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
    • Post‑graduate, post‑registration training in the specialist area advertised, leading to a completed IBMS Specialist Diploma (or equivalent) in the discipline advertised (or working towards)
  • Desirable (Qualification)
    • Evidence of continuing professional development to demonstrate specialist knowledge

    • Proven ability to understand all theoretical and practical aspects of laboratory procedures within the advertised discipline
